No Recourse to Public Funds
‘No Recourse to Public Funds’ is a condition of certain immigration status in the UK, where people travelling to the UK on various visas often have limited or no access to public funds such as welfare benefits and public housing services. Over the last few years, the UK government has worked with Eaves to administer the Sojourner Project, an initiative aimed at supporting people who are caught in the trap of domestic abuse with no such support due to their immigration status; that current initiative came to an end on 31st March 2012.
UKBA have now published a new policy effective from 1st April 2012 on protecting and supporting women who experience domestic abuse who are ‘no recourse to public funds’, where concessions are now possible for women in this category. You can view and download the new policy here; the concession form is downloadable here.
